THE IEVERS ESTATE PURCHASED BY TENANTS AT SIXMILEBRIDGE, CO. CLARE

A significant agreement has been reached between the tenants and the Ievers estate, encompassing Sixmile-bridge and surrounding areas. The tenants have decided to proceed with the purchase of the estate at the rate of 21.5 years’ purchase on second term rents. This milestone decision involves approximately thirty tenants, who collectively occupy a substantial land area spanning seven to eight hundred acres.

As part of the agreement, non-judicial or first-term tenants’ rents will undergo a considerable reduction to align with second-term rents. This reduction will be implemented through an abatement of 43% in the £. Facilitating the negotiations was Mr Robert Hunt, who served as the estate’s agent, while Reverend Father Considine, acting on behalf of the tenants, played a key role in the purchase discussions. Additionally, Mr James O’Regan provided valuable assistance as the secretary during this pivotal process.

The purchase agreement marks a significant step towards empowering the tenants and securing their stake in the Ievers estate. With the terms now finalized, the tenants can look forward to a more stable and prosperous future as they take ownership of the land they have cultivated and nurtured for years.

The deal is expected to have a positive impact on both the tenants and the overall community, ensuring stability, security, and the preservation of valuable rural heritage. As the tenants embark on this new chapter of ownership, they will undoubtedly forge a stronger sense of community and shared responsibility for the land they call home.

The Ievers estate purchase by the tenants is a testament to the spirit of cooperation and mutual respect, reflecting the determination to create a prosperous and sustainable future for generations to come.
