Administration Action at the Quarter Sessions Regarding the Estate of Margaret Lane

At the Quarter Sessions held before His Honor Judge Adams, Mrs. Eilen Sampson sought administration of a portion of the estate of Margaret Lane, who passed away on the 4th of February, 1902, without leaving a will. Mr Lane opposed the application.

Mr Biochy, a solicitor from Charleville, represented the plaintiff, while Mr Carroll, another solicitor, represented the defendant.

The case revolved around a farm located in Ballybriap, County Limerick, with an estimated value of £69. Mr Carroll pointed out that this amount exceeded the jurisdiction of His Honor’s court.

However, His Honor Judge Adams explained that he could still proceed with the case if both parties consented to it. He emphasized that taking the matter to higher courts would likely deplete the estate, leaving little for either party.

As a result, it was decided that the case would be struck out pending further action, allowing the parties to reconsider their options before proceeding with the matter.
