Knocklong, County Limerick, June 12, 1905: A special meeting of the Knocklong branch of the Gaelic League was convened on the 12th inst., with Mr J. Harty presiding. The gathering was attended by several prominent members, including Mr Wm. Walsh, Vice Treasurer; C. Harty and E. J. Guerin, Honorary Secretaries; R. J. Walsh, M. Raleigh, W. C. Fitzsimon, E. O’Dwyer, J. O’Riordan, and others.
During the meeting, Mr Wm. Walsh proposed, and Mr R. J. Walsh seconded, a heartfelt vote of sympathy, which was passed in solemn silence. The resolution read as follows: “We, the members of the Knocklong branch of the Gaelic League, wish to tender our heartfelt sympathy to the relatives of the late Canon Michael Moloney, of the Archdiocese of Westminster, and a native of this parish, on the immense loss they have suffered due to his untimely passing. We mourn this loss not only as fellow parishioners of such a gifted patriot but also as a blow to the Gaelic League, which has lost one of its most dedicated and earnest supporters—one who dedicated a significant part of his life to the propagation of its principles.”
The members expressed their deep condolences to Mrs. John Mclnerney of Cratloe, County Clare, the late Canon Moloney’s sister, and to Messrs. John and Daniel Moloney of Bridge House, Knocklong, County Limerick, the deceased’s brothers.
The gathering acknowledged Canon Moloney’s invaluable contributions to the Gaelic League’s cause and recognized the tremendous impact of his passing on the entire community. As they extend their sympathies to the grieving family, the members of the Knocklong Gaelic League will cherish the memory of the late Canon Moloney as a devoted patriot and a staunch supporter of the Gaelic League’s mission.
