Assault in Limerick: Hooliganism Incident

A man named Bartholomew McMahon was brought before Alderman McDonnell in Limerick, charged with assaulting Patrick Kennedy, an army pensioner, under unusual circumstances on Saturday night. According to reports, Kennedy was walking down Upper Denmark Street when he encountered McMahon, who was accompanied by two other men.

McMahon demanded money from Kennedy and proceeded to search his pockets. However, as Kennedy had no money on him, McMahon cruelly struck him between the eyes, causing a cut. McMahon’s companions then took him away, but he was later apprehended by Sergeant Drennan.

Kennedy lodged a charge of assault against McMahon, leading to his appearance before Alderman McDonnell. McMahon was remanded to appear before the Petty Sessions for further proceedings. The incident highlights the issue of hooliganism and violence in the area, warranting appropriate legal action to address the situation.
