“Enchanting Kilkee Excursion: Limerick Drapers’ Association’s Memorable Outing to Nature’s Beauty Spot”

The Limerick branch of the Drapers’ Association organized their annual excursion to Kilkee on Sunday, bringing over 300 members on board the ss “Shanoon.” The group included a substantial number of women, adding to the enjoyment of the trip. Initially, the weather seemed discouraging, with a brief heavy shower causing some discomfort, but it soon cleared up, and the journey proceeded under enjoyable conditions.

Arriving at Kilkee around quarter to two, the visitors had a great time. Some enjoyed bathing in the many places designated for such activities, while others indulged in their own preferred leisure activities. Kilkee, often referred to as the “Irish Brighton,” offered a charming setting for relaxation and rejuvenation.

At 6 o’clock, the return journey began with favorable weather and a pleasant breeze at the stern. The evening remained fine, and passengers enjoyed various attractions on deck, including dances. The trip back to Limerick concluded around half-past ten, leaving the participants with a longing for a longer stay at Kilkee.

The organizers, officers, and members of the Drapers’ Club Committee responsible for the arrangements deserve credit for their excellent planning and execution. The excursion was so popular that additional tickets were sought but couldn’t be accommodated due to the overwhelming demand.

The officers and committee members in charge of the arrangements ensured the comfort and convenience of the visitors. The outing was well-managed and enjoyed by all, making it one of the most delightful excursions of the season.
