To the Editor of the Limerick Echo,
Dear Sir,
I feel compelled to bring to the attention of the people of Limerick the concerning state of affairs at what is called the Theatre Royal. The treatment we receive as patrons of the theater leaves much to be desired. On more than one occasion, I have personally experienced the unpleasant consequences of the numerous glaring defects in the building. However, the situation was particularly distressing last night during the performance of “My Lady Molly.”
The popular areas of the venue were allowed to become so overcrowded that the ordeal of exiting the theater was a terrible experience, with the crowd repeatedly jammed at the pit exit. One cannot help but wonder what would happen in the event of a panic caused by a fire. The building seems so poorly equipped to handle such a situation. A matchbox would seem more substantial compared to this theater.
I implore the Corporation to take action and ensure that Mr Fogerty addresses the safety concerns, if not the comfort, of the citizens. It is only fair that something be done, especially considering the few times he provides anything worth seeing at the Theatre Royal.
Yours faithfully,
CANDID
