NOVEL FORM OF OPPOSITION: Vintners’ Certificates Contested

At the recent Mitchelstown Petty Sessions, the renewal of three local vintners’ certificates faced opposition from the Constabulary authorities. The grounds for the objection were that these vintners had participated in collecting funds for a cause that could potentially disturb the peace of the district. The funds were raised in support of Mrs. and Miss O’Brien, who have been prominently involved with the Coracunna farm. The cases have been adjourned for a fortnight to allow for further consideration.
