‘THE IRISH COLLEGE, ROME – THE NEW RECTOR’S ADDRESS TO THE ARCH-CONFRATERNITY’

In a packed Redemptorist Church last night, the Very Rev Dr O’Riordan, the newly-appointed Rector of the Irish College in Rome, delivered an address to the members of the St. John’s Division of the Arch-Confraternity. The occasion was significant as the Arch-Confraternity had arranged to present an address to the Pope, and Dr O’Riordan had the privilege of personally making the presentation on their behalf.

The gathering showed their deep reverence and affection as Dr O’Riordan ascended the pulpit, receiving warm salutations from the congregation. He expressed his delight to undertake this task and emphasized the exceptional nature of the Arch-Confraternity. Dr O’Riordan shared a personal connection with the organization, having been a member of the Confraternity in his youth during his studies at the College. He fondly recalled carrying the medal and ribbon with him throughout his life’s journey.

Praising the dedicated work of the Spiritual Director and the Redemptorist Fathers over the years, he acknowledged their immense sacrifices in serving the organization. The Confraternity has become an integral part of the parish work, with the priests of St. Michael’s Parish taking a keen interest in its success.

Dr O’Riordan recognized the immeasurable good accomplished by the Confraternity, both in religious and social aspects. The organization has touched countless lives, but its true impact is beyond measure, leaving a lasting legacy of faith and service. The address to the Pope represents a proud moment for the Arch-Confraternity, and Dr O’Riordan expressed his gratitude for the privilege of delivering it. As the Very Rev Dr O’Riordan continues his tenure as Rector of the Irish College in Rome, the bond between the College and the Arch-Confraternity remains strong, and their shared commitment to faith and community endures.
