
At the Rathkeale Quarter Sessions, Judge Adams and Major Kenny considered fair rent applications, equity cases, and malicious injury cases.
Fair rent applications and decisions included:
- Reps of Sylvester Crump, landlord; Mary Curtin, tenant – Old rent £73 10s, 1st term rent fixed at £55 10s.
- James O’Grady Delmege, landlord; Mary Fitzgerald, tenant – Old rent £2, 2nd term rent fixed at £1 12.
- James O’Grady Delmege, landlord; James Casey, tenant – Old rent £4 10s, 2nd term rent fixed at £3 5s.
- Miss Delmege, landlord; Michael Healy, tenant – Old rent £6 10s, 2nd term rent fixed at £5.
- Nuns of St. Mary’s Convent, Limerick, landlord; Rev. John Hallinan, tenant – Old rent £24 11s, 2nd term rent fixed at £20 11s.
Equity and malicious injury cases were also heard:
- George O’Dea sought administration of his father’s estate, contested by the defendant. The case was dismissed with costs.
- Mrs. Hughes applied for funds in a probate suit that had remained unclaimed for 21 years.
- Michael Cregan applied for compensation for a damaged fence.
- Dr Dillon claimed compensation for an injured pony, believed to be caused maliciously.
The court heard witnesses and arguments in each case. The judgment for Dr Dillon’s claim favored the plaintiff with £25 compensation and expenses.
