Successful Retreat in Castleisland Draws Pious Crowds

Castleisland has been abuzz with religious fervor over the past two weeks as a retreat, led by Reverend Fathers Colliers and Collins of the Redemptorist Order in Limerick, unfolded. This retreat was divided into two distinct periods: the initial week catered to women, while the subsequent week was dedicated to men. The outcome of this spiritual gathering has been deemed a remarkable success, touching on various dimensions.

Attendance at the devotional sessions, both in the morning and evening, has been hearteningly substantial. The palpable atmosphere of piety and fervor showcased by the attendees was both moving and convincing. The Reverend preachers delivered captivating sermons that not only captivated the audiences but also imparted valuable teachings.

The guiding message throughout the retreat was one of adhering to the path of Christian virtue, steering clear of sin and vice, and shunning their influences. The preachers particularly emphasized the need to avoid the pitfalls of intemperance. They lauded the people’s commitment to religious practices, especially in earnestly participating in morning and evening services.

During the retreat, the Ven Archdeacon O’Leary, P.P, V.F, along with his assistants, Reverend Fr O’Keane and Reverend Fr Harrington, were acknowledged and commended for their tireless efforts in fostering the spiritual and temporal welfare of the community. The preachers wished them a prolonged journey in their noble work for the greater good.

As the retreat concluded on Sunday evening, its resonance is expected to continue within the hearts of the people, who have been both uplifted and inspired by these days of reflection, prayer, and guidance.
