Mechanics’ Institute, Limerick
At a special meeting held in the Town Hall, representatives of the city’s employers and the committee of the Typographical Association, Limerick Branch, gathered to address an important matter. During the meeting, a unanimous resolution was passed, reflecting the concerns of both the Printers and the working Printers in the city.
The resolution expressed regret that a significant amount of printing work for local establishments, which could be effectively and affordably completed in Limerick, was being outsourced elsewhere. The committee, representing the interests of local printers, emphasized their capability to undertake the work just as efficiently and skillfully as any competing firms. They urged local traders to prioritize city printers, highlighting the economic benefits of keeping business within the community.
Notably, the resolution addressed the issue of patronizing external sources to the detriment of local workers and businesses. The committee implored traders to consider the impact on employment and prosperity in the city, underlining the importance of supporting their own community.
The meeting was marked by its commitment to ensuring that the city’s printing industry remained vibrant and prosperous. By rallying behind the call for preference to be given to local printers, the Typographical Association, Limerick Branch, sought to foster a sense of unity and collective responsibility within the city’s business landscape.
Signed,
James O’Halloran, President
