Derryvree is compelling because it reveals a wetland interval between ice advances, yet resists any simple claim that Ireland was uniformly ice-free or hospitable. The mosses, sedges and insects suggest locally productive cold-country niches, while later till shows how quickly such environments could be overwhelmed and preserved. This contrast also sharpens the limits of linking Fermanagh’s evidence with Castlepook’s mixed animal remains or the possible butchered reindeer bone. How should researchers balance these scattered archives when assessing whether short-lived refuges merely supported wildlife, or also created realistic opportunities for intermittent human visits during the late Pleistocene within Ireland's changing landscape?
