At the weekly meeting of the Limerick Branch of the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants, chaired by Brother John Meade, a sombre discussion unfolded regarding the recent railway accidents that have caused profound sadness among the relatives of the deceased. Recognizing the importance of expressing condolences, the chairman proposed a vote of sympathy before moving to adjourn the meeting.
In a show of unity and support, Brother D. O’Sullivan put forth a motion, seconded by Brother D. O’Doscoll, stating, “We, the members of the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants, extend our deepest and heartfelt sympathy to the grieving relatives of our departed member, Brother James Slattery. We also offer our sincere condolences to Brother P. O’Dwyer and his friends on the loss of his brother, Matthew.”
Additional resolutions of sympathy were passed in silence for Brother Jeremiah Curran, who lost his child, and Brother Paul O’Mara, who experienced the passing of his brother. The meeting concluded with a moment of solemnity, followed by an adjournment.
