The Central Council of the Gaelic League for Limerick and District, known as Coisde Ceanntair Luimnighe, held a meeting on Saturday at the Gaelic League Rooms in Clare Chambers. The gathering was attended by representatives from various branches of the Gaelic League, including the city branches Craob Luimnighe and Craob Luimnighe No. 2 (Sarsfield Branch), as well as the Kilfinane, Rathkeale, and Foynes branches. Reverend T. Lek, Adm, the President of Coisde Ceanntair, presided over the meeting.
Several significant topics related to the Gaelic League’s activities in the city and county were discussed. These included the recruitment of teachers for rural areas and the organization of a language collection during the upcoming Seachtain na Gaeilge (Irish Language Week). The Reverend Chairman emphasized the importance of giving special attention to the collection effort. The governing body of the Gaelic League, known as the Crisde (or Gnotha), faced significant expenses, and it was crucial to provide support to ensure its continued work.

Additionally, another resolution was unanimously adopted, requesting the branches of the Gaelic League represented at Coisde Ceanntair to take measures to promote the observance of St. Patrick’s Day as a National Holiday in their respective districts for the current year.
