Funeral of Mr John P. Broderick, Esteemed Solicitor, Draws Large Attendance

The funeral of Mr John P. Broderick, a highly regarded solicitor, was held on Saturday in Abbeyfeale. The evening before, his remains were respectfully transferred from his former residence, Feale View, to the parish church. A significant number of people from various parts of the district gathered to pay their final respects to the deceased, whose unexpected passing evoked widespread sorrow and regret throughout Limerick and Kerry on Thursday morning.

Mr Broderick’s distinguished career as a lawyer, renowned for his forensic wit, persuasive advocacy, and quick repartee, spanned over three decades. However, it was his genuine concern for the less fortunate members of the community, whom he assisted selflessly during times of need, that touched the hearts of many. As they solemnly participated in the funeral proceedings, they fondly remembered their departed friend’s benevolence and kindness. The widow and family of Mr Broderick are profoundly mourned for the great and irreparable loss they have suffered.

At two o’clock, the funeral procession commenced from the parish church, where a solemn Requiem Mass had been celebrated earlier that morning. The procession proceeded to the Abbey Cemetery, where the burial took place. Reverend Fr. Casey, PP, and Rev. Fr. Fenton conducted the Office for the Dead and the burial service.

The principal mourners included Mr Wi. P. Broderick (brother), Mr Patrick J. Broderick, Mr Francis Ralph, Masters Falkiner Walster and Lionel (sons), and Misses Maud, Cecilia, Josephine, Queenie, Kathleen, and Ethel (daughters). Also in attendance were Mr Patrick Broderick, a solicitor from Castleisland, Mr Lancelot Creagh (nephew), and Miss Margaret E. Broderick (niece).
