County Borough Council of Limerick to Seek Bootmakers for Nightconstables’ Footwear

The County Borough Council of Limerick has announced its intention to procure 22 pairs of premium hand-made boots for the City Nightconstables. The Watch Committee will convene on Wednesday to discuss the matter and consider tenders for this vital supply. The council has stipulated that the leather used must be of Irish origin, with a preference for Limerick-produced materials.

Interested bootmakers are invited to submit tenders, but only those adhering to the Fair Wages, and other relevant resolutions of the Council, will be considered. Upon selection, the chosen contractor must sign a contract, prepared by the Council’s Law Agent, committing to the specified terms.

Prompt delivery is expected, with the successful tenderer required to supply the boots within one month from the date of tender acceptance. Interested parties are advised to submit their tenders, along with accompanying samples, to the Council’s office before 4 o’clock in the afternoon on the aforementioned date. All submissions should be clearly marked on the outside as “Tender for Boots.”

It is important to note that the Council retains the right to decline the lowest or any tender without providing a specific reason for such a decision. The announcement was made by W. M. Nolan, the Town Clerk and Secretary of the Committee, who urged potential bootmakers to adhere strictly to the guidelines outlined by the County Borough Council.
