If you have a calf affected with or suspected of White Scour, you must:
Keep the affected calf separate from healthy ones.
Notify a constable of the police force in your area about the affected or suspected calf.
Role of Inspector:
An Inspector from the Local Authority, upon receiving information or suspicion of White Scour, must promptly visit the location and ensure compliance with the regulations and orders.
Regulations by Local Authority for Cleansing and Disinfection:
The Local Authority can create rules for cleaning and disinfecting places, utensils, vehicles, etc., associated with affected or suspected calves.
Non-compliance can result in the Local Authority carrying out the cleaning at the owner’s expense.
Facilitating Cleansing and Disinfection:
Owners, lessees, or occupiers of places must facilitate the cleansing and disinfection process.
Movement Restrictions into Local District:
The Local Authority can regulate the movement of calves into their district from other areas to prevent the spread of White Scour.
Movement Restrictions within Local District:
The Local Authority can also regulate the movement of calves within their district to prevent the spread of the disease.
Notice of Regulations to Railway Companies:
The Local Authority must inform railway companies about movement regulations related to White Scour.
Limits on Delegating Regulation-Making Power:
The power to make regulations under this Order cannot be delegated.
Definition of Movement within District:
For the purposes of this Order, calves moving through the district without unnecessary delay by railway are not considered moved within the district.
Regulations for Markets and Sales:
The Local Authority can make regulations to control the exposure and sale of calves at markets, fairs, auctions, etc.
Reporting of Regulations to Department:
The Local Authority must send all made regulations to the Department of Agriculture and Technical Instruction for Ireland.
Extension of Certain Sections of Diseases of Animals Act, 1891:
White Scour in calves is considered a disease for specific purposes in the Act of 1894.
