County Limerick Evicted Tenants’ Association Advocates Reinstatement

The County Limerick Evicted Tenants’ Association convened a meeting at the Town Hall on Saturday, presided over by Mr P. Bourke, B.A., W.C.P.L.G. The association, comprising members such as John H. Danaher, Patrick Creedon, James Reardon, and others, discussed and passed several resolutions concerning the plight of evicted tenants.

Resolutions Passed:
The following resolutions were put forth and unanimously approved during the meeting:

  1. The eviction of tenants who have been left without proper support in the years following the enactment of the Land Act is a grave national injustice that both landlords and the government are accountable for. The government’s failure to properly administer the law designed to help these tenants is a betrayal of their duty.
  2. Evicted tenants are among the most vulnerable groups, and any disruption of national unity would disproportionately affect them. Therefore, it’s urged that any disagreements or differences among Irish leaders be settled quickly, as it is vital for the resolution of evicted tenants’ issues.
  3. While public meetings are endorsed as a means to support evicted tenants, it’s requested that these gatherings should focus solely on the cause of evicted tenants and should not foster any disputes among well-meaning supporters.
  4. The Evicted Tenants express their earnest desire for the resolution of differences between Irish leaders, as this is the only way to ensure the rapid reinstatement of tenants affected by the land conflict.
  5. The association expresses concern over the actions of the Goold-Verschoyle tenants in Athea, who have signed purchase agreements regardless of the plight of evicted tenants. It’s urged that the Estates Commissioners address this issue and provide equivalent compensation to those affected.

The association also extended gratitude to Mr Heskell of Waterford for his advocacy on behalf of evicted tenants and expressed admiration for the efforts of Mr John O’Donnell, MP.., while condemning any actions that support land grabbers.

These resolutions reflect the association’s dedication to advocating for the rights and reinstatement of evicted tenants in County Limerick.
