Abbeyfeale Community Updates: Coiste Ceantair Meeting

A meeting of the Coiste Ceantair, the local committee responsible for various community activities, was convened in Abbeyfeale recently under the guidance of Reverend Father Casey, the Parish Priest. The meeting, held on a Friday evening, saw the participation of several dedicated individuals from the community, including Reverend Father Kelly, teachers, local activists, and concerned citizens.

During the meeting, several important matters were discussed and decisions were made to contribute to the betterment of the local area. Notable attendees included Reverend Father Casey, who was re-appointed as the chairman of the committee, and Reverend Father Kelly, who assumed the role of vice-chairman. The role of secretary was assigned to J. Kelly, who is a National Teacher, and J. McCoy took on the responsibility of assistant secretary. Miss Collins was entrusted with the role of treasurer.

One of the key points of discussion was the upcoming local gathering, known as “aeridheacht,” which was scheduled to take place on the 17th of June. Plans were outlined and arrangements were made to ensure the smooth execution of this event. The committee urged all individuals interested in contributing to the event’s program to submit their proposed items by a specified deadline, the 10th of June.

Furthermore, the committee resolved to actively support and participate in the Limerick Feis, an event showcasing Irish culture and heritage, as well as the Kilmallock Feis. These decisions reflect the committee’s commitment to fostering cultural and communal engagement within Abbeyfeale and its surrounding areas.

The overall atmosphere of the meeting was one of enthusiasm and community spirit. The dedication of the committee members and their determination to create a vibrant and engaging local environment were evident throughout the discussions. It was clear that the upcoming aeridheacht was anticipated to be a resounding success, promising to be one of the most noteworthy events to be held in West Limerick in recent years.
