The students of the Abbeyfeale Sisters of Mercy Convent Schools have reason to celebrate as they achieved remarkable results at the recent Limerick Feis, showcasing their talents and academic prowess in various competitions. In the inter-school competition for pupils aged between 14 and 16, several students from Abbeyfeale secured the coveted 1st prize. The talented individuals who earned this distinction are Alice Lyons, Kathleen Woulfe, Bridget Leahy, Eileen Brosnan, Hanna Dillon, and Dora Curtin. Their exceptional performances reflected their dedication and hard work.

In the history competition, which also featured students aged between 14 and 16, the Abbeyfeale students demonstrated their historical knowledge. Among them, Alice Lyons, Kathleen Woulfe, Bridget Leahy, Hanna Dillon, Eileen Galvin, and Mary Power earned the remarkable distinction of securing second place. Their grasp of historical facts and events was clearly impressive.

The younger students, between the ages of 10 and 12, from Abbeyfeale also made their mark in the inter-school competition. While they may not have taken home the top prizes, they were highly recommended for their efforts. The students recognized for their commendable performance include Mary Ellen O’Connor, Bridget O’Connor, Annie Mary O’Connell, Josephine Broderick, Emily Collins, and Julia Collins. Their promising talents and dedication to learning are indeed noteworthy.

Sister Bonaventure, who has played a pivotal role in teaching Gaelic classes at the convent, has earned accolades for her exceptional work. Her efforts have not only preserved the Gaelic heritage but have also led to outstanding success in these classes. She is currently engaged in training Intermediate pupils, where her expertise and commitment are expected to continue bearing fruit.
