Limerick City – William McGuire, who had been residing in London for several years, was apprehended on Friday and transported to the city. He was arrested based on allegations of deserting his wife and abandoning his family. The accused’s wife reported the matter to the authorities, leading to his arrest.
On the same day, William McGuire appeared before Magistrate Bryan O’Donnell, J P. The magistrate decided to remand the accused to the Liberties Petty Sessions, requiring him to provide a bond of £100 and two sureties, each amounting to £50. Mr John Ryan, the solicitor, represented the Limerick Guardians in the case, as the prisoner’s wife was considered chargeable to the rates.
