Granard Tenants
On 13 February 1900, Parliament formally addressed the living and working conditions of tenants on the Granard estate in County Longford, drawing national attention to persistent issues of land tenure, rent, and rural poverty. Irish MPs presented testimony and reports detailing inadequate housing, high rents, and limited rights for tenant farmers. They argued that, despite previous Land Acts, many families on the Granard estate remained vulnerable to eviction and economic hardship, with little recourse for improvement.
