The Kilmallock Feis, held on Sunday, attracted a large crowd to the historic Baalbec town and once again demonstrated the vibrancy of the Gaelic movement. The pioneering efforts of previous years have yielded remarkable results, resulting in a network of Gaelic branches across the country. The people have embraced the movement with remarkable spontaneity and enthusiasm, defying expectations that the Irish language had become obsolete. Today, the language serves as a living, spiritual source of inspiration, rekindling the glorious past of Ireland and underscoring the urgent need to break free from the bondage under which the country languishes. Teaching the Irish people their own language and nurturing its growth is a powerful weapon in the fight for liberation, surpassing mere political rhetoric. As long as a nation preserves its own language, it remains impervious to external subjugation. The impassioned addresses by Reverend J. O’Shea, Reverend T. Lee, and Mr William Lundon delivered at Kilmallock on Sunday should be studied by all Irishmen, with their lessons taken to heart.
