Shandon’s Red-Deer World
There are no written sources, named communities or datable political institutions for Ireland at this time. Nor is there evidence for kingdoms, diplomacy, formal warfare, farming, permanent villages, monuments or organised religion. It would be misleading to fill these silences with familiar prehistoric imagery. The Gaelic language, Irish place-names, megalithic tombs, metalwork and the social structures known from later archaeology all lay tens of thousands of years in the future.
