A Shattered Kingship
The most dramatic event of the year was the death of Úgaire son of Dúnlaing, king of Leinster. Several annals agree on the core facts. At Dubloch, Donn Sléibe son of Máel Mórda, king of Uí Fáeláin, captured the house in which Úgaire was present with Máel Mórda son of Lorcán, king of Uí Cheinnselaig. The house was taken, and in some versions burned, and Úgaire, Máel Mórda and others were killed there. The Annals of Inisfallen summarise the matter starkly: Úgaire was killed with his princes by Donn Sléibe in one house.
