Harvesting Progress in West Limerick: Favorable Conditions Bring Optimism

Positive news emerges from the Abbeyfeale, Mountcollins, Athea, and Templeglantine districts in West Limerick, as approximately two-thirds of the bay has been successfully harvested and is in excellent condition. The timely weather conditions played a crucial role in this achievement, and if the favourable conditions had persisted for a few more days, the entire crop would have been saved from any potential harm.

Over the past month, oats have shown significant improvement, reflecting the promising state of the crop. Additionally, potatoes are thriving excellently, providing a hopeful outlook for farmers. However, there have been isolated incidents of blight in areas where spraying has been neglected. Nevertheless, the impact of the blight remains relatively minimal at this point.

The progress of turnips, mangolds, and other green crops is commendable, with steady growth reported. Farmers are pleased with the overall development and are optimistic about the upcoming harvest.

The farming community in West Limerick is cautiously optimistic as they continue to monitor and tend to their crops diligently. The favourable conditions and progress observed thus far offer hope for a successful harvest season in the region.
